There are many devices out there for converting vinyl records or cassettes to small, compressed mp3 files. These are barely acceptable for mp3 players or "iPods" but the resulting sound doesn't measure up to CD quality.

At TechHelp Ottawa, we do audio archiving the right way! By capturing your original media using high sampling rates, we produce large, high quality WAV files (exactly the same file type used on commercial CDs). These files are put through software that reduces pops, clicks and surface noise and equalizes sound before we burn the WAV files to Compact Disc. It is a time consuming process, but the resulting CD has the original tracks in tact and sound quality that is equal to or better than the original.

Should you wish to have the CD tracks compressed to small mp3 or AAC files, that's an easy task done at little additional cost.
